We strongly believe that ‘sport for all’ should mean exactly that and we launched our very own Disability Snowsports school in 2015. We are the only European operator to both own and operate a self-run snow school in this field.
In 2023, we proudly welcomed and tutored over 2,000 guests with learning, sensory and physical disabilities across our venues in Yorkshire, Madrid and Milton Keynes to either start their snow sports journey or get back into skiing or snowboarding following a life-changing situation.
In 2014 we started our partnership with the charity Sense, the charity for deafblind children and adults, and in 2022 were named their “Partner of the Year” recognising our fundraising efforts, the awareness we have generated for the charity and most importantly the chance for deafblind children and adults to enjoy snow sports, dismantling the many barriers to entry previously common in alpine sports.
As well as using the latest and most innovative equipment including sit-skis, which can be applied with assistance or used independently, our dedicated Adaptive Coaches are trained to use different teaching styles to suit each individual in achieving a memorable snow sports experience. This is why we call them ‘adaptive lessons’ as each lesson is adapted to the unique needs of each guest.
As part of our school holiday camps, Snozone also teach children basic sign language lessons, supporting ‘good citizenship’ elements of the school curriculum.
For us, the nomination for this award recognises the passion and dedication of all members of the Snozone team in providing opportunities for everyone to enjoy snow sports.
